buying air gun ammo

I am an avid airgunner and I find it offensive when buying ammo at Canadian Tire they require taking personal information,they want to take my drivers licence info.At Princes Auto they want my phone number.I see this as an invasion of my rights of privacy to what I purchase.I can buy an axe off the shelf with no problem but I buy lead pellets they need to violate my right of privacy as to what I purchase..how say you.I want to fight these store polocies,any ideas????
